Suspended World Cup star who was sent home from Qatar has kickabout with kids

Suspended World Cup star Andre Onana has been spotted enjoying a kickabout with kids in Cameroon after packing his bags in Qatar.

The Inter Milan shot-stopper, 26, cut a frustrated figure at the tournament finals, leaving Cameroon's Middle Eastern base after the opening group stage match against Switzerland. The Indomitable Lions tasted defeat at Al Janoub Stadium thanks to Breel Embolo's second-half strike and, in the aftermath of the 1-0 loss, Onana received some heavy criticism from manager Rigobert Song.

The Cameroon boss slated Onana for his unconventional goalkeeping methods, the former Ajax keeper was at one point higher than his defenders in the contest.

Song then informed Onana he would not be starting Cameroon's crucial group G clash with Serbia, preferring to place Devis Epassy, who plays his club football at Saudi Arabian outfit Abha, in between the sticks. Onana was not even included on the substitute's bench.

Instead of waiting around to see if he could regain his No.1 spot, the Inter Milan ace opted to head back to Cameroon. Missing the Indomitable Lions' 1-0 victory over Brazil, where Vincent Aboubakar was sensationally sent off for a second bookable offence when celebrating his match-winning goal, Onana has instead turned his attention to inspiring the next generation – whilst also proving his national manager wrong.

Filmed spending time with some local kids, Onana was seemingly enjoying spending time as an outfield player without criticism before he returns to the San Siro ahead of a club friendly against Real Betis on December 17.

Speaking after the 3-3 draw against Serbia, boss Song stood by his decision to exile Onana from the dressing room stating: "I know what I have to do, and that is to ensure that the team takes precedence over any individuals. Andre wanted to step out and we accepted that position. In a squad, discipline is important."

Song's settlement was backed up by a statement from the Cameroon Football Federation, which read: "The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr. Rigobert Song Bahanag's decision, the player Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons.

"The Cameroon Football Federation reiterates its full support to the head coach and his entire staff as they implement the federation's policy aimed at preserving discipline, solidarity and cohesion within the national team.

"FECAFOOT further reaffirms its commitment to create a peaceful atmosphere for the team and to provide them with adequate facilities for an outstanding performance."
