Midsomer Murders star Neil Dudgeon has said Holly Willoughby was "great" when she performed a cameo in the series.

This Morning star Holly is a huge fan of the murder mystery show, and had the opportunity to film a role.

Neil – who stars as DCI John Barnaby – has now spilled the beans about her appearance, saying that the blonde did well although she had some butterflies.

"Holly has a cameo in this episode and she was great, she was thoroughly professional," he said on Good Morning Britain.

"I think she was a bit nervous when she first arrived."

    Holly said how much she loved the programme and jumped at the offer to be a part of it.

    But she confessed: "You are going to have to kill me off really quickly because I am terrible at acting!"

    She said that if her Midsomer character was going to be murdered, she knew exactly how she should go.

    "If you kill me, can I die by eating chocolate?" she giggled.

    "Because I saw an episode where someone died from eating chocolate and I thought, 'That is the way to go'."

    The TV star later shared a photo from the set as she started filming, telling fans: "Excitement levels off the chart!"
